Well, it was a huge weekend in racing for Team Henderson.
After going into the BMW Magic Millions 2yo Classic paying up to around $15, ‘No Looking Back’ made a truly tremendous effort and finished first past the post.
However, the race was protested by the second-placer Tom Berry riding ‘Driefontein’. After a period of deliberation, the Turf Club stewards awarded the win to ‘Driefontein’, placing ‘No Looking Back’ second. It was a particularly controversial result, as Gai Waterhouse is the trainer of ‘Driefontein’ as well as ‘No Looking Back’. As mentioned in the online Sydney Morning Herald article “Many figure that as No Looking Back came from behind the ''winner'', which didn't take any ground off the filly in the vital stages, the protest should have been dismissed, particularly considering the margin.”*

Obviously we were hoping for a different result, but to come second in the second-richest two year old horse race in Australia was still a thrill and we will hopefully be back to claim the trophy in 2013.
Also proving to be a controversy on the day was Team Henderson’s ‘Light Warrior’ in the Maiden Plate. ‘Light Warrior’ would have been a great chance at winning this race, only he buck-jumped coming out of the gates. Jockey Nash Rawiller commented ''I jumped half a length in front and gave him a dig to take advantage of it and he just dropped his head,''*. Despite the jumpy rodeo start, ‘Light Warrior’ placed fourth in the race. It isn’t a win, but it may just prove that he can come back under pressure.

Nash Rawiller rode both ‘No Looking Back’ and ‘Light Warrior’, so he certainly had a colourful day on the track!
This year’s Magic Millions didn’t disappoint for excitement, action & fashion – we will be back for more next year!
